Santarem...








...is located quite between Belem and Manaus and is the third largest city in Brazilian Amazon. It is settled where the Tapajos river meets the might Amazon some 8ookm from the delta. About 300.000 cool people live here. fishing, timber exporting, tourism and husbandry are the main activities.
Through the last 6 years soybeans projects have been implemented up land, and it represents now a relatevely important exporting product.
Windsurfing(my case), swimming, biking, skating, basketball and obviously football are the most practiced sports. Jungle Marathon has created quite an interest in running, or I never noticed it was big here.
